Subject:stuff like this makes me mad
Time:09:24 pm
i usually just keep my opinions to myself in things like this, but the terri schiavo case is really upsetting me. i do NOT understand how they can just let the poor lady die. first of all, all these friends that declare that terri would have wanted to die in a state like this: that is bullshit. unless its in writing, no one can be sure. example: say emily complains that after you are 30 years old there is nothing left to live for so she says that she wants to die when she is 30. and not wanting to complain, i mumble, "uh huh, yea sure, me too." but that doesn't mean i meant it, DOES IT? i guess i should be more careful about what i say in front of people from now on. second, they took away her feeding tube as a way of killing her?!?!?!?! okay, even if i personally wanted to die if i was in "that state" (don't take that as a yes or as a no for what i personally would want to have done to me...I BEG YOU) i don't think the method in which i would want to die would be to starve to death! have you heard what she reportedly looks like now? her eyes are sunken in, her skin is cold...god, thats horrible!!! third, what a fuckin evil BASTARD her husband is. obviously he doesn't care about terri and only wants the money and to get on with his life. after all, who needs that kind of burden when you have a new girlfriend that you want to marry? finally, how do we all really know what it is like to be in "that state"? how do we know if its totally horrible to be in a vegetated state? hell, in ahwatukee, most believe that they would kill themselves if they became "so poor" that they would have to live out of a trailer or something. i mean, she is still breathing on her own. she still brings happiness to her parents and countless other people and hope is always still alive for terri schiavo. why not give her a chance just like everyone else? people in this world are so, so cruel.

Time:08:22 pm
ehhhh...needless to say this spring break has been pretty dull. thus i am writing on here. and i thought my spring break was pretty kick ass because i bought 4 pairs of shoes, but one pair hurts my feet, another pair, my new BIRKENSTOCKS (!!!!!!) were supposed to be 100% non-leather but they AREN'T!, one pair has a slick bottom so they slip, and one pair is actually pretty awesome but they are cowboy boots and i already have a ton of those. gaaaaaah.

i'm really mad about my birkenstocks. arrrrrrrrgh!!!

and i wanted to update because i have a new icon. my favorite SNL skit...ever.

haha, has anyone ever read the hippy handbook? its funny and makes me laugh.

:gulp: within two weeks i should know if i'm going to be a camp counselor or not. i'm really excited and nervous about it. like, if i do get hired, i'll be away all summer from everyone and all my friends and family and have a totally different summer experience than probably anyone else. but i'll be around awesome people in the environment i love most (i've decided that what i want to do with my life is to own a summer camp)....and away from stupid phoenix heat. anyways.

i got to go do apush...EWWW...am i the only one who dislikes van over? gah.

my new favorite website: www.hipforums.com. i'm talking to this swedish guy on there who is very cool and whose english is almost better than mine...in case any of you wanted to know.

the oc was REALLY good today. modest mouse performance and good drunk act by adam brody. very scandalous episode. hehe scandalous.

my life kind of sucks right now. not really the people in it, but me. i guess i kind of suck right now. i feel the least bit of exciting in me. i feel blah. i feel like the boringest person who no one would even want to be around at the moment. i really am getting dull and boring and its bothering and irritating me....but i can't get out of the rut. bah.

now i'm going to go do math homework. what a good way to end this entry.

Subject:<3 a short summary of ghadi's life...ghandi is very incredible...
Time:09:14 pm
Power Of Peace
Philosophy Of Ghandi

Power has many faces. Some forms of power are abrupt, forceful and potentially harmful. Yet, there is another kind of power that is constant, unyielding but also loving and peaceful. Mahatma Ghandi, the famed leader of the nonviolence movement in India, championed the belief that nonviolence is the law for all humanity and that it takes greater strength to use peaceful resistance to achieve your ends than to resort to brute force. According to Ghandi: "Power rightly exercised must sit light as a flower, no one should feel the weight of it." Calling himself a "practical idealist," he believed in facing injustice in the world by having the courage to love and show "ahimsa", selflessness, which he wrote brought "delight" to his life. Following Ghandi, we can learn to recognize the subtle power of nonviolence to bring a sense of peace to our lives and the lives of others.

Born in India, on October 2,1869 as Mohandas Ghandi, he searched spiritually for many years, eventually earning the name Mahatama, meaning "great soul." While living in South Africa, he studied the works of many religions as well as the literary works of writers such as Tolstoy and Thoreau, which led him to forgo the pursuit of wealth for a life of self-improvement. It was also at that time that he began to experience discrimination and to react to it by organizing peaceful marches, community meetings and boycotts, which often led to his arrest. After returning to India, he created a highly successful system of nonviolent protest to win independence from the British. Using fasting, prayer and a stubborn resolve not to hate the British, his legacy has made a lasting impression on people all over the world. Ghandi believed that, "Hate is the subtlest form of violence. We cannot be really nonviolent and yet have hate in us."

For Ghandi, the ultimate end of nonviolence was an enlightened world, in which people would naturally care for one another, without needing to be governed. But, he also realized that this utopian vision was not yet a reality. Therefore, he believed strongly that people should have the courage to defend their visions, but when at all possible, they should do so without causing pain to anyone else. He added that by using the principles of nonviolence, the weak would grow stronger. To Ghandi, it was integral that people always speak their truth but he also believed that, "One should speak the truth in gentle language."

Ghandi's remarkable legacy continues to affect huge numbers of people today. While his beliefs have profound universal applications, he also lived these ideals privately. The true essence of nonviolence begins with the way we conduct our private lives and the way we feel about other human beings. As Ghandi taught, we can be powerful and loving. We can speak our personal truth in a way that spreads enlightenment.
